Hamilton Beach 49350 Alexa coffee maker has garnered stellar reviews from consumers. Easy-access, mess-free glass carafe and heating plate. It brews high quality coffee. Unfortunately, this machine is not enabled with other smart home systems (e.g. Google Home or TP Link).

2022 Buyer’s guide for best smart coffee maker

Finding the best smart coffee maker is not an easy task. And, there are 2 reasons for this.

First, we have found some “rankings” of top smart coffee makers, but have found them extremely misleading. The coffee makers on some of those lists are not smart at all (and cannot be made smart with the use of smart plugs).

Second, though some machines may be smart, they may come with significant flaws. Our readers have sent us many tips into what works and what does not work.

Therefore, as we were searching for the best smart coffee machines, we went through a large selection of coffee makers.

We were surprised: there are not many smart coffee makers available in the market. There are just a couple of worthwhile Alexa/Google-enabled coffee makers, and many simple coffee makers that are compatible with smart plugs.

Hence, our list is comprised of smart coffee makers and regular coffee makers compatible with smart plugs. As we have described in the article on the types of smart coffee makers, only the machines that have a manual switch on/off are compatible with smart plugs (Alexa, Google or TP Link). Those smart plugs need to be purchased separately, but they allow the remote control via an app or voice.

Besides a couple of exceptions (we love the Alexa Coffee Maker & Atomi coffee maker), there is not a lot to choose from. Some potentially promising smart coffee makers come with flaws and defects. It appears there’s a lot that manufacturers can do for the smart kitchen.
