General thoughts
With the Coletti “Bozeman” Percolator, I was able to prepare coffee the old-fashioned way. And, I absolutely loved this! I was in charge of the quality of my beverages, with the appliance having little to do with how strong or rich my final cup of coffee would be. It’s by far one of the best stainless steel coffee makers with no plastic. The cleaning process is easy, as I was able to throw it in the dishwasher, but some components seemed quite fragile. It’s great for space, but may take a bit of adjustment to brew by myself.
Position #2: French press by SterlingPro
SterlingPro came with a very strong stainless steel coffee maker with no plastic. I really enjoyed its french press, which was fairly easy to use, and very convenient.

General thoughts
This french press produces a strong and tasteful coffee, but only when I was conservative with the volume of coffee. Though SterlingPro’s double-wall french press was able to hold 4 smaller cups (or 2 large mugs) of coffee, I typically brew less for stronger and more aromatic coffee. Comes with 2 awesome features to keep coffee warmer for longer, and to prevent grounds from leaking into beverage. This french press is light, but pretty tall.
Position #3: VP17-1SS by Bunn
Bunn’s VP17-1SS is the best stainless-steel coffee maker (no plastic) in 2020. I have found only one plastic funnel, which I replaced with a stainless-steel version. It’s a traditional coffee brewer with an industrial look.

General thoughts
Bunn VP17-1SS is in no way an appealing coffee maker from the appearance standpoint. In a nutshell, it’s a heavy machine that takes away a lot of space. However, it is one of the traditional and best stainless steel coffee makers with no plastic (or little plastic). Unlike other machines, Bunn’s VP17-1SS has no plastic tubing, which I consider to be a great plus. Further, it brews phenomenal coffee in just three minutes. On the downside, Bunn VP17-1SS is rather expensive and does not come with a carafe. Further, there’s a plastic funnel, which can be replaced with a stainless steel version for extra $. Overall, VP17 provided me with a peace of mind with its stainless steel, no plastic structure. Though not as sophisticated as other coffee makers, I believe the price-to-value ratio is very solid. A very good choice for some aficionados.
Position #4: French press by Frieling USA
Frieling USA came forward with a very fun and convenient french press. It made the 3rd place on the list of the best stainless steel coffee maker (no plastic).

General thoughts
The Frieling USA French Press comes in different sizes (from 8oz to 44oz) coffee maker that offers more than a decent cup of coffee. It is a fully stainless steel coffee maker (no plastic). Comes with a couple of strong features: 1) no-drip spout, 2) super fine mesh to prevent coffee grounds from entering my beverage, 3) warmer for longer. This french press comes at a high price tag, but it is one of the best stainless steel coffee makers with no plastic available in the market.
Position #5: Pour over by Coffee Gator
It’s one of the best options for a plastic free coffee maker. Pour over by coffee gator comes in different sizes. I was able to find the following sizes:

General thoughts
Coffee Gator came out with a good-looking and elegant pour over coffee maker. It comes with just 2 main components: a glass carafe and a stainless steel filter. I chose a 14oz version, and it was easy and fast to use. All I had to do was add coffee grounds, water and let the water drip through coffee grounds. Light and compact. A glass carafe was very fragile (and I accidentally shattered it in pieces). Involves manual brewing, so can take a bit longer than 4-5 minutes to brew. Brews awesome coffee (just the way I like it). The price-to-value ratio is good.
2020 Buyer’s guide for best stainless steel coffee makers with no plastic
Why best stainless steel coffee makers with no plastic?
Why did I decide to explore the idea of the best stainless steel coffee maker with no plastic?
As a consumer, I pay the same, if not more, for products of gradually decreasing quality. Many companies remain silent on the topic of materials used in the manufacturing process. I can only imagine that they use progressively worse and cheaper plastic in products to increase their profits. And, I kid you not: plastic products today look and feel significantly cheaper than plastic products 10 years ago.
Furthermore, I remember the time I bought a brand new coffee maker for my home a couple of years ago. I nearly threw up as soon as I had a sip of coffee brewed in my then-new machine. The flavor was filled with plastic. This is when I said to myself: enough.
I want to believe that I am an aware consumer. I would like my family and friends to make informed decisions about the products we acquire. In my rankings and reviews, such as best drip coffee makers or best single serve coffee makers, not only do I emphasize quality, convenience and price. I include my own concerns regarding safety and potential health effects.
The topic of stainless steel coffee makers with no plastic is an important one. I am still learning about potentially detrimental effects of plastic on health. Large lobbying groups stand between me, a regular consumer, and the truth about what impact plastic has on my life.
Are stainless steel coffee makers with no plastic better than plastic coffee makers?
Many studies show that plastic is filled with toxic chemicals that can harm our health, and health of our children and grandchildren.
If an appliance contains plastic, there is a possibility that dangerous chemicals and toxins might be leaching out into beverage every time hot water comes in contact with those plastic parts.
The data, research and scientific studies indicate that detrimental health effects in humans may be caused by chronic low-dose exposures or acute exposure to high doses of plastic.
Those health effects may include, but are not limited to: issues with brain development that lead to loss of sex differentiation in brain, reproduction issues, low quality of sperm, low testosterone levels, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, abnormalities in liver enzymes, and more.
Researchers are still confirming the full extent to which chemicals and toxins included in plastics affect our health, and in what ways they do so. As the research continues, I may unnecessarily expose myself and my children to dangerous long-term effects on health and development.
The good in best stainless steel coffee makers with no plastic
With the increasing awareness of potential harmful effects of plastic on health, I have seen a significant uptick of consumer interest in switching to stainless steel coffee makers with no plastic.
Though this is still a large opportunity for manufacturers, some, like Bunn, Coletti or Frieling USA, are already making big strides in this area. They have put in the market some of the best stainless steel coffee makers with no plastic.
First of all, best stainless steel coffee makers that contain no plastic are more durable, resistant and convenient. Made with higher quality materials, they are likely to serve longer. They are much more convenient to use.
Second, best stainless steel coffee makers with no plastic give me ownership and control over the brewing process to yield the most delicious coffee I have had. Those products, though perhaps more involved than automatic coffee makers, are fast and easy to use. Whether I’m going for a french press, a percolator or a pour over appliance. Few components are involved and the quality and strength of my coffee mostly depend on why I do, not just on a machine.
The bad in best stainless steel coffee makers with no plastic
First, it has been incredibly difficult to find a product that contains no plastic (or plastic in areas where it does not contaminate water or coffee). As I mentioned earlier, there is still a large opportunity for manufacturers to step in and release products in the market of stainless steel coffee makers with no plastic.
Second, stainless steel coffee makers with no plastic might be unconventional coffee makers. As I tested, researched or reviewed different coffee makers, I always learned that there was some plastic inside. This was true for the Breville BES870XL Barista espresso machine, which sells for $500+. The unconventional coffee makers include pour overs and percolators, which can brew delicious coffee.
Third, those unconventional coffee makers might be a little bit more involved to brew coffee. They are VERY easy and convenient to use, but they may be a more hands-on experience. While I appreciate the opportunity of brewing my own coffee beverage, I know many people (including myself) would appreciate handing off brewing to the machine.
Some of the more common features included in most coffee machines include an automatic off switch, an espresso coffee pod drive, a coffee grinder, a timer, and a warming plate. If you are looking for something that is not necessarily over the top, then these are all features that you should look for in a coffee maker.
I wish there were more people in the world like you that cared!
Many Keurig coffee makers come with auto shut off functionalities. Many Keurig coffee makers come with auto shut off functions.
I’ve just come from 4 years of truly unhappy response to/with Keurig. I started with a ‘slim line’, and was OK with it. Then went for an ‘Elite’ with more functions that I’d ever use. Then along came the much touted ‘Supreme’. I gave away the Elite to my neighbor and eagerly bought this new ‘Supreme’ model. What a horror show. I bought 2 Universal adapters believing leakage was due to them. Nadda it’s the machine. It never leaks when the ‘pre-made pod adapter is used…of course. But to make your own pod, I have a mess of biblical proportions. Clear water drips/sprays and dribbles everywhere within a 3 foot radius. At this point I have over $400 tied up in Keurig, and not overjoyed with any of it. I’m 72 and decided it was time to go back to my roots and buy an electric percolator. This little gem runs circles around any/every coffee machine I’ve had over the last 50 years. I’ll never go back to anything but perked coffee. Speed of serving isn’t important, and in fact…if you like your Keurig coffee strong the time it takes to dribble into your cup isn’t much less in time than brewing 4-6 cups in the coffee pot. You never have to worry about a bitter 2nd cup of coffee if, like me you have an insulated karaff. Long live peculators!
I appreciate your advice because I’ve seen lists of plastic free coffee makers that have plastic visible in the photo. I was so happy to see the technvorom mochamaster on a list, then I went to the manufacturer we site and see a plastic basket and a plastic column that sits in the brewed coffee. Thank you for your list!
