The Hamilton Beach Alexa coffee maker (49350) model sells in an elegant black design with stainless steel accents. I found the machine to be great looking on my kitchen countertop. Overall, the design was quite impressive. The machine looked modern, versatile and light.

This coffee machine is very easy to use. The coffee filter and the control panel are located right above the carafe. There are 5 simple, well-described buttons, and a small screen showing the time and coffee selection.

I really enjoyed the ease, convenience and mess-free design of this coffee maker. I was able to add water from the front of the machine, as the water reservoir is located right in the front section. Therefore, I could fill the water reservoir really quickly and easily, without worrying about spilling water.

The control panel was located on the front of the machine, and it is very intuitive. It comes with 5 buttons, all marked with an image

Water reservoir: I was truly mesmerized by the design of the water reservoir. I could access it very easily from the front of the machine. Thus, I was able to pour water mess-free. There’s a minimum that needs to be in the water reservoir to begin brewing.

Additional perks: I was so excited for this Hamilton Beach Alexa coffee maker Review. Based on my research, this coffee maker appears to be the first one in the history to be Alexa-enabled.

→ Performance

Brewing time: I was positively surprised about the brewing time. It was rather fast. The full 12-cup carafe took about 12 minutes to brew. Smaller quantities took significantly less time. 6-cups took about 6 minutes, 8 cups about 9 minutes. The “bold” option, which yielded stronger and richer coffee, took about 2-3 minutesm ore.

Flavor: Hamilton Beach Alexa coffee machine gives a lot of flexibility in brewing coffee. I am able to use whatever ground coffee I wanted. And, the coffee maker had a “bold” function for stronger and more flavorful coffee. This took a bit longer to brew (as bolder coffee requires longer interaction between hot water and coffee). However, I felt that Hamilton Beach Alexa coffee maker brewed a neat, rich and deep coffee.

Temperature: Alexa coffee maker did not allow me to control the temperature of the brew. In my tests, the water reached about 175-180 F degrees, which is slightly below the perfect brewing temperature.

Noise levels: There were no remarkable noises coming from the machine. It performed similarly to others. There was a small winding noise, but this was nothing unusual.

Cleaning: Hamilton Beach Alexa coffee machine is very easy to clean. The machine comes with a display screen that will say “clean” after about 30 brewing cycles. The carafe, the carafe lid and the coffee filter basket can be washed in the dishwasher on the top rack. What else could I ask for?

When it was the time to clean the machine, I had to first remove the water filter and the water filter base. Subsequently, I put about 2 cups of white vinegar to the water reservoir.

The brew cycle needs to be started by pressing the on/off button, and then it needs to be stopped immediately after 30 seconds. The vinegar should stay inside the machine for about 30 minutes, after which I had to restart the brewing cycle.

Once all the vinegar has come out of the machine, I cleaned the carafe to remove all traces of vinegar.

In the end, I found that running fresh water through the machine for 2-3 cycles after cleaning was useful. This allowed all the vinegar flavor/scent to disappear.

Customer-reported technical issues

Therefore, it has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules

These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency, energy. This machine should pose no interference to radio communications.
