We were pleased about this Mueller Austria coffee maker review (12-cup). Although the brand includes “Austria” in its name and features “European quality,” we did not find many commonalities between Mueller Austria coffee maker (12-cup) and the country of Austria. In fact, the coffee maker comes from China. Despite this, Mueller Austria 12-cup coffee maker is a practical drip coffee machine. It sells at an affordable price in mid-$ price point. The machine is straightforward, with a minimalist design. It is easy to use and it comes with some useful features; it is fully programmable and comes with a keep-warm function. All that you need, just at the right price.

Charming with its simplicity and design, Mueller Austria coffee maker can be a nice addition to many kitchens around the country. With stainless steel accents, the machine is primarily made with black BPA-free plastic. We did not like a non-removable water reservoir, but we appreciate clear water level marks.
Muller Ultra coffee maker has an attractive minimalist design. While it comes with stainless steel accents at the base and the top, the machine is mostly of black BPA-free plastic.
The machine is straightforward, with a control panel right in the front of the appliance. The control panel contains a digital LCD clock and 6 buttons:

- On/Off: to turn on or off a coffee machine
- Delay brew: to program brewing up to 24 hours in advance
- Program: to set up the clock, adjust auto-shut off or change brewing settings
- Hour and Minute
- Strength: to select a favorite strength of coffee
We really enjoyed the ease of this coffee machine. The control panel of the Muller Ultra coffee maker contains a “Power” light indicator. The indicator stays on as long as the machine is on. Further, the “Strength” light indicator stays on as long as the strength function is on.
This machine sells with its own 12-cup glass carafe, and with a removable permanent metal mesh filter. The non-removable water tank is located at the back of the machine and has a transparent water gauge with markings for 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 cups. The water tank is accessible by lifting the lid that also gives access to the brew basket.

In spite of its affordability, Mueller Austria coffee maker comes forward with some standard features, which make brewing quick and easy. We love that the machine offers 24-hour programmability and strength control. We can brew coffee to our liking. However, the machine is rather simple and we would not expect a lot of sophistication here.
Voltage: Mueller Austria coffee maker is made for 120V, and can be used in Canada and the US only.
Basket size: Mueller Austria coffee maker has a removable brew basket. It is large enough to hold a maximum of 12 tablespoons of coffee grounds. Adding more than 12 tablespoons of grounds to the brew basket can cause overflow. The manufacturer recommends using one tablespoon of ground coffee for each cup of coffee.
This machine comes with a permanent metal filter, so there is no need to buy paper filters separately. However, using this permanent metal filter would yield a cup of unfiltered coffee. In case you are curious about the difference between permanent and paper filter, we have put together an article.
However, if you need to drink filtered coffee, we strongly encourage the use of paper filters. Mueller Austria coffee maker will take #4 cone paper basket.
Using the paper filter together with the permanent filter may brew a coffee that is weak, so we recommend using ONLY permanent filter, or ONLY paper filter, but not both at the same time.
Beverage size: Mueller Austria coffee maker can yield up to 12 cups (or 60oz) of coffee (with each cup holding 5oz of coffee). We can determine the volume of coffee by adding an appropriate amount of water in the water reservoir. The machine almost always brews through the entire volume of water in the container.
However, when the “1-4” feature is activate, the machine brews only a reduced amount of coffee, up to 4 cups (or enough coffee for a 11 oz travel mug).

In my opinion, there are a couple of features that make this drip coffee machine very attractive. They are as follows:
✓ Full programmability for convenience and ease. The machine comes with “Auto On” and “Auto Off” functions which program the machine 24 hours in advance to start or stop brewing coffee. This is especially helpful to start brewing early in the morning, without having to prepare everything at the crack of dawn.
✓ Not just a whole carafe, but also any volume up to 12 cups of coffee at a time. Mueller Austria coffee maker allows users to brew as much coffee as they desire, based on the volume of water in the non-removable water reservoir.
✓Mess-free brewing with a 30-second anti-drip system. The feature temporarily stops the flow of coffee so I can pour my first cup before brewing ends. As soon as we remove the carafe, the brewing pauses for 30 seconds. We MUST place the carafe back within 30 seconds, or else the brewing will continue.
✓ Strength function for bolder flavors. The function allows to brew stronger coffee at a touch of one button. To increase strength of coffee, we need to press the “strength” button just once. The button will illuminate in red.

At its price point, Mueller Austria coffee maker brews tasty coffee. The strength control allows to add some boldness to coffee, which we particularly enjoyed!
Brewing time: Mueller Austria coffee maker brews coffee fairly quickly. It should take about 5 to 7 minutes to brew coffee, depending on the volume. A full 12-cup carafe will take about 7 minutes, while smaller volumes much less than that.
Flavor: Mueller Austria 12-cup coffee maker is a simple machine. But, it does deliver rich flavors. The flavors can be bolder and stronger with a strength control option.
Temperature: In our tests, water was reaching 180-185 F degrees, which is fairly close to the perfect brewing temperature.
Noise levels: The machine performs as we expected in terms of noise levels. The machine makes a normal pumping noise.
Cleaning: Luckily, the machine is fairly easy to clean. We can use a damp cloth to wipe the body of the coffee maker, the heating plate and the interior of the water tank. However, we should not use any abrasive detergents to clean the machine, especially the warming plate. The permanent filter and the glass carafe can be washed in warm, soapy water and rinsed thoroughly.

This product is made mostly of plastic. One of the labels on the coffee machine claims that BPA-free materials are used for all parts intended to be in contact with coffee and water. Further, the website of the machine says that plastics are BPA-free.
However, as you might be aware by now, we are particularly concerned about coffee makers and espresso machines where plastic comes in contact with hot water. Though the machine may be BPA-free, there are other potentially toxic plastics that may or may not be used in the manufacturing process.

We find Mueller Austria coffee maker to sell at a great price-to-value ratio. Though the machine is rather simple with some useful features, it typically sells at an extraordinary mid-$ price point. Other coffee makers with similar or the same features tend to be a bit more expensive.
Muller Austria 12-cup coffee machine sells on amazon at the very affordable price. This is a very good price to pay for a coffee machine that can do more than just brew coffee. This coffee maker comes with additional helpful features that may be sold at higher prices by other coffee machine manufacturers. The full programmability, the “strength” function, and the keep warm function are valuable features that can save me time and enhance the flavor of coffee.
