I am trying to be impartial and provide an honest assessment in the Wolf Gourmet coffee maker review. Though Wolf Gourmet is an extraordinary machine that brews great pots of coffee, it may not be a perfect choice for some. It most certainly is not a basic coffee maker for an office or a dorm. Therefore, it is not a suitable option for individuals with a strict budget. Furthermore, the machine may not be great for the following reasons:

→ Appearance

Though minimalist, Wolf Gourmet coffee maker has earned my appreciation with its luxury looks and quality materials. The machine would be a beautiful addition to many kitchens.

The control panel is located on the left hand side, on the front of the appliance. The control panel contains a digital clock and 4 buttons:

• Start/Stop button: to begin or cease brewing,
• “Prog” button: to use when programming the clock and the brewing settings,
• “Clock” button,
• “Zero” button: to use when resetting the brew settings back to zero.

The “Prog” and the “Start/Stop” buttons also come with integrated led lights that illuminate when the settings have been activated. The control panel also contains two distinguishable knobs: one for selecting the brew mode (Manual and Accu-brew), the “Clean” setting, and the strength level, and one for selecting the number of cups, and for programming the next brew.

This machine comes with its own 50oz double walled, stainless steel thermal carafe. The removable water tank is located on the side of the machine. It is transparent, and can be easily removed by pulling on its handle while sliding it out. The brew basket is also removable and can be open by sliding it out like a drawer.

Wolf Gourmet coffee maker comes in 3 styles: with retro-style red knobs, black knobs and silver knobs. We love the silver knob version best!

Voltage: Wolf Gourmet coffee maker is made for 120V, and can be used in Canada and the US only.

Basket size: Wolf Gourmet has a brew basket large enough to hold coffee grounds needed to brew 10 cups of coffee. Our recommendation is to use one tablespoon of ground coffee per one cup of coffee. The basket is easily accessible by pulling it out like a drawer. The basket has an integrated scale that is used to weigh ground quantity when the Accu-brew mode is activated.

This machine does not have a permanent filter. Therefore, we would would need to purchase a permanent filter online, if we wanted to use one. However, our recommendation is by default to use paper filters. Find out why here. This machine would be a #4 size cone paper basket.

Beverage size: The maximum quantity of coffee I can brew using this machine is 10 cups (or 50 ounces), where one cup holds 5oz of coffee. When the Manual mode is activated, I can adjust the quantities of coffee grounds and water to brew coffee to my liking. When the Accu-brew mode is activated, I can select the number of cups I want to brew (between 4 and 10), but the machine decides on the volume of water.

Weight: Expectedly, this Wolf Gourmet coffee machine was a little heavier, weighing about 14 pounds. This is still much lighter than some of the more advanced and robust coffee makers. However, I found a permanent spot for this coffee maker on my countertop.

Unit size: With a size of 15 inches in height, 11 in depth and 11/5 in width, Wolf Gourmet coffee maker is comparable to other machines of its kind.

Brewing time: Wolf Gourmet coffee maker is an efficient coffee maker. It takes just the right amount of time to craft a pot of delicious coffee. In our experience, Wolf Gourmet coffee maker takes about 7-8 minutes to brew 10 cups (50oz) of coffee.

Flavor: Wolf Gourmet coffee maker offers optimal brewing temperature, extraction method and brewing time. The machine sprays water evenly over grounds for optimal extraction. It in fact resembles coffee ground pre-infusion.

The Accu-brew mode adjusts the quantity of coffee grounds according to the number of cups we desire. It also adjusts the strength level based on our selection (mild or bold).

On the other hand, the manual mode gives more freedom and allows more experimentation with strength and flavor.

Temperature: In our tests for this Wolf Gourmet coffee maker review, the machine has almost always reached a nearly perfect brewing temperature. The double walled stainless steel thermal carafe keeps the coffee hot for 1 hour after the brewing cycle has ended.

Noise levels: This machine makes a discreet noise while brewing, and has also received positive reviews for its silent brewing.

Cleaning: The “Clean” light illuminates and the digital clock will display the word “Clean” as a reminder to clean the unit after 300 cycles. The machine can be used normally if cleaning is not performed as recommended. The same indicators will activate when the “Clean” cycle is utilized.
